A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Betty Hardin, 66 of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem P.B. Church with Pastor Antwon Plott officiating and burial in Cottingham Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be Sunday, 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. and Monday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.


Betty Sue Jones Hardin was born April 14, 1950 in Hillsboro, Alabama to the late Mary Owens Foster and Levolia Jones. She departed this life on June 23, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital. Betty graduated in 1968 from Tennessee Valley High School where academically she was second in her class. She attended Albright Business College.

Betty was very active in both civic and church activities. She loved helping people and she never met a stranger.  Betty always had an infectious smile and had a loving, sweet spirit that was genuine.

She confessed hope in Christ in September 1964 and joined Bethlehem P.B. Church where she was a member of the choir and Usher Board.    She loved gospel music and organized a singing group called the “Harmonizing Four”. She was also known as the MC Queen to all the Quartet Groups in North Alabama for 43 years. She was very well know when witness for God by saying “Come on Somebody!”  

She was the Worthy Matron of the Spring Creek Pride #542 Order of Eastern Star. She was a staff writer for Speakin’ Out News in the earlier 80’s. In 1977, she received her CDA and was employed by Community Action Agency as a teacher for Headstart. She later was employed by Unite Parcel Service. She served as the Secretary of the Limestone County Chapter of the NAACP. She also was a substitute Teacher for Decatur City Schools until her health declined. 


She was preceded in death by: her parents, one brother, Levolia Foster and Husband Wilford Hardin. 

She leaves a legacy of love to:  a devoted friend, James Jones of Decatur; one daughter, Paireese (Sammy) Bouldin, of Decatur, AL; two sons, David Hardin, of Huntsville, AL., Trenton Hardin, of Decatur, AL; one brother, James Bowman, of Hillsboro, AL; one stepsister, Ludie Pointer, of Chicago ,IL; one sister-in-law, Nancy Foster of Hillsboro, AL, six Grandchildren, three Great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and one loving, devoted friend, Katie Owens.
