A Celebration of Life for  Mr. Eddie G. “Dean”Cosby, 73 of Decatur, AL. will be noon Saturday at Westside M.B. Church with the Reverend Adolphus Elliott officiating and inhumation in Decatur City Cemetery.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  Public viewing will be Thursday from 2-7 and Friday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Life began for Eddie Gene Cosby on December 6, 1944 to the late George and Sally Ann Taylor Cosby of Limestone County, Alabama.  He went to join his parents and Heavenly Father on January 19, 2018, at Decatur Morgan Hospital – Decatur General Campus.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior while attending Bethlehem P.B. Church in Hillsboro, AL. He later joined Westside M.B. Church, where he was a faithful member until his health failed in 2011.

Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 28 years, until he was forced to retire due to an accident that rendered him partially disabled.  However, that didn’t stop him from constantly being “on the go”.

He was a caregiver to his mother until he couldn’t do it anymore. He was also the “bank”, babysitter, car washer, coach, cook and chauffeur to his girls and grandchildren, not to mention the many children that he had a hand in helping to rear, with that big smile on his face.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Addie and Emmit Taylor, Jeremiah and Lera Malone Cosby.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Mary E. Cosby; three children, Rosemary Cosby, Ramona Cosby and Virgie “Tootie” Aldridge; three grandchildren, Bryso n and Tyson Cosby and Aleah Wesley; a special nephew/grandson, Davion Drake; one stepbrother, George Hobbs; one uncle, Willie Taylor (Ruth); special cousins, Robert Taylor and Lizzie Fuqua; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Alfonzo Jackson, Terry Jackson, Charles Aldridge, Edward Jackson, Dale Bowman and Renardo Aldridge. Active Flower Attendants will be Cynthia Bowman, Brenda Taylor, Deaders Burnette, Brittany Thompkins, Shelia Jackson, Wanda Jackson and Mignon Jordan. Honorary Pallbearers and Honorary Flower Attendants will be Lakeside High School Class of 1964 classmates.
