A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Ernestine Glenn, 76 of Decatur, Alabama will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016, Shiloh M.B. Church at 12:00 noon with Bishop Cary W. Orr officiating and Inhumation to follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:30-6:30 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Ernestine Jarmon Glenn enjoyed life to the fullest.  She impacted those who knew her because of her sweet personality, and genuine love for her family and friends.  She extended that warm caring spirit to those she came in contact with on a daily basis.

Ernestine was born into a family with strong family values and a love for Christ.  She was the 12th of 13 children born in Courtland, AL to Oliver Jarmon and Sadie Mae Maxwell Jarmon.  She was the baby sister of her family and to this day at 76 years old, she is still referred to as “The Baby” by her older sisters and brother.

A few years after graduating from Tennessee Valley High School in 1959, Ernestine moved to Chattanooga, TN where she met and married Robert Glenn. They started a life together with their two beautiful daughters; Angela and Starri. They adored their children and committed to a strong bond and deep love for them that was never compromised.

Mrs. Glenn returned to Alabama in 1970 to be closer to most of her family.  She worked many years with various retail establishments in customer service and management.  She devoted almost 20 years of service to Wal-Mart where she served as Toy Department Manager.  Ernestine met and enjoyed many friendships through her experiences at Wal-Mart before and after she retired.

Once she retired, she moved to Atlanta, GA to be near her daughters and their husbands to help raise her grandchildren.  She created so many memories for them all.  Joya, Jayla, JiMaya, and (step) grandson Jimmy Jr. and his daughter Aaliyah will cherish their wonderful times with her.  Her son-in-law Steve Billups and Jimmy Houston loved her dearly and knew they had a special lady they could call their “other mother”.

Ernestine loved traveling on vacations with her family capturing many photos and creating many memories and stories to share with the rest of the family. She had a love for basketball and cheered her favorite team (Golden State Warriors) on to victory.  Her sisters all had different teams they supported and they enjoyed the fun and rivalry of it all.

Most of all, Sister Glenn was a devoted and faithful Christian.  She truly loved the Lord and it showed in everything she did. Over the years of her life, she was a dedicated member of Westside M.B. Baptist Church, and also enjoyed attending Calvary Assembly in Decatur with other family before changing her membership to Salem Baptist Church in Atlanta.  No matter where she was, praising the Lord and exhibiting her faith in Him was present; always giving Him the glory and the honor.

Ernestine will be missed by all of her children and grandchildren, including her brother Milton, sisters Willie Ester, Evelyn, Marjorie, Alberta, Marva, and most of all Doris Jean, who was also her best friend. “Jean and Tean” as everyone called them, was a duo like no other. She left many memories for her cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends to reflect upon when they are longing for her company.  She will join her parents, sisters (Ida Mae and Sarah), as well as brothers (Charles and Lawrence) and her husband in heaven. Surely they are all rejoicing to be with her again.
