A Celebration of Life for Mr. George E. Jones, 80 of Decatur will be noon, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at King’s Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Roderick Stallworth officiating.  Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  Public viewing will be Monday from 3-7 and Tuesday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

George Edward Jones was born on March 2, 1937 to Walter Lee and Sallie Mae Westmoreland Jones in Morgan County, Alabama.  He departed this life on July 6, 2017 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of King’s Memorial United Methodist Church.  He attended school in the Decatur City School System.  He was a retiree of Wolverine Tube where he was a dedicated press operator.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Doris Tucker Jones and to this union four children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Loraine Jones Maxwell; a brother, James Johnson; and granddaughter, Dominique Parks.

George leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Doris Tucker Jones of Decatur; four children, Beverly Jones and Vickie Jones-Parks of Decatur, Wanda Gamble of Dayton, OH, and George E. Jones, Jr of Tuscaloosa, AL; siblings, Walter E. Jones (Willie) and Floyd Jones (Franzetta) of Decatur, Gerald Priest (Delsia) and Pearl J. Elliott (Lorenza) of Huntsville, AL, LaSalle (James)  Vasham of Virginia Beach, VA, Elizabeth Dunn and Dr. Datie Priest  both of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Dora Tucker of Decatur, and Elizabeth Scott of Hempstead, NY; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
