Reynolds Funeral Home announces with deepest sympathy the passing of Mr. Hosea L. Penrose, 75 of Decatur, Alabama.  Mr. Penrose passed away on July 23, 2016 at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur Campus. Funeral will be noon Saturday at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer with Bishop Thomas D.Strong, pastor and Elder Thomas Sykes officiating. Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to funeral with Reynolds directing.

Mr. Hosea Penrose was born in Columbus, MS to the late Juanita Penrose and Earl Morris.

Hosea worked numerous jobs in Columbus, MS before moving to Chicago, IL.  He worked for G.E. in Chicago, IL before relocating in Decatur, AL.  He retired after 25 years of service in 2000. He was an avid golfer and a member of the River City Golf Club.  He enjoyed life, family and friends.  As he always said, “I Did It My Way.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Gloria Penrose; three loving aunts, Louise “Niece”, “San” Ella and Fannie “Pumpkin” Penrose of Columbus, MS; two brothers, James “Do Dad” Latham and Tris Van “Mutt” Latham; and one sister, Mary Cannon Skinner.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Carolyn Sykes Penrose; one sister, Mary Lee Moore (Pleasant) of Chicago, IL; six sons, Rickey Phillips of Decatur, Hosea Penrose, Jr and Marvin Penrose of Muskegon, MI, Gerald Penrose (Vanessa) of Chicago, IL (Anna’s children); John “Mane” Sadler of Columbus, MS (Ofella’s child), Jerome Sykes and Antonia Sykes of Decatur; three daughters, Rosetta “Rose” Penrose, Mary Jean Deloach of Muskegon, MI; (Anna’s children) and Shannon “Shaun” Sykes of Decatur; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be the River City Golfers and Friends. Flower Bearers will be the wives of the River City Golfers and Friends.
