Funeral for Mr. James Ellison Jr., 67 of Decatur will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Reverend Nick White officiating and burial in Calvary Memorial Gardens.

 

Public viewing will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. till funeral time at the funeral home.

 

James Ellison Jr. was born the first child to Mary Louise Allen Ellison and the late James Ellison Sr. in Limestone County, Alabama on December 25, 1945. He departed this life Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Decatur Health and Rehabilitation Center.  James stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only a step into another room, and not a stepping out of the fellowship of life.  It was but a stepping into one of the other rooms of our Father’s House.

 

Baptized many years ago, he believed and acknowledged that Christ Jesus lived and died for our sins.  He joined David Temple Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Owes.  He remained faithful to Christ until his death.

 

​In his home going, James Ellison leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Mary Louise Ellison; one son, Dexter Mclean; three sisters, Ruby Ellison, Annie Lois Powell (Harry) and Mary Virginia Thompson; eight brothers; George Ellison, Earnest Thompson (Shonna), Billy Joe Thompson, Larry Thompson, Bruce Allen (Cynthia), Dennis Ellison, Donald Ellison, and James Eddie Ellison; two grandchildren, Shanasia Thomas and Divine Thomas; four aunts, four uncles, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
