Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, 12:00 Noon at Bethlehem P.B. Church, with Pastor Eddie Walton, Officiating and Interment in Garrett Cemetery in Tanner, Alabama. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. Public visitation will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

James Miller Harper was born on November 20, 1942 in Limestone County, Alabama to the late Thomas Miller and Mary Alice Harper Garth.  He departed this life on Sunday, March 18, 2017 peacefully at his home.

He attended Trinity High School in Limestone County, Alabama. James was affectionate called "King Fish" by his family and friends. He was a man of very few words and was well liked by many. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carrie Mae Jefferson; two sons, Paul Miller and Stanley Evans; a daughter, Christen Williams; a sister, Earlie M. Hill; a brother, Willie "Buck" Miller.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Delois Thatch-Harper; children, Beverly Miller, Anita Miller, Melvin Miller (Erika), James Miller, Jason Harper, Christa Cline-Love (Nick), Eddie Walton, and Kimberly Walton-Marshall; sisters, Pearlie M. Harper, Linda Fay Harper, Doris Miller, Barbara Miller, Marion Douglas (Leo), Martha Jean Douglas (Henry) and Dorothy Jefferson; brothers, Robert Harper (Mary), Frank Harper (Monica), Thomas Miller and Stephanie Miller (Phyllis); 27 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be nephews and Flower Bearers will be nieces.
