Jessie Lee Lewis, of Rock Hill, South Carolina was born January 19, 1944 in Limestone County, AL to the late Timothy Lewis Jr. and the late Mattie Jolly Lewis Brown. He was the third of ten children. On Thursday, September 8, 2016, Jessie departed this life at his residence in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Jessie confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Love Chapel C.M.E. Church under the pastoral leadership of the Rev. Ophelia Davis where he also later accepted his call to preach in the ministry.

Jessie was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Mary Ann Sales and to this union four children were born; Gary, Deborah, Pamala and Keith.

Jessie retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 30 years of service. He was loved by everyone who knew him and was known to bring his witty sense of humor to every situation.

He is preceded in death by his wife of over 30 years, Mary Ann Lewis; his parents, Timothy Lewis, Jr. and Mattie Jolly (Lewis) Brown; two sisters: Mae Emma Lewis and Queen Esther Pitts; and two brothers ,Roosevelt Lewis and Willie Lewis.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two loving daughters, Deborah Lewis Ausberry of Jacksonville, FL and Pamala Yuvonne Lewis of Rock Hill, SC; two loving sons, Gary Lee Lewis of Jacksonville, FL and Keith Jerome Lewis of Rock Hill, SC.; seven grandchildren who were the apple of his eyes, Kinnaird, Ashley, Emmanuel, Dezmond, Jessie De’Vontae, Akirra and Jordan; six great-grandchildren; four devoted sisters, Mattie Lewis of Huntsville, AL, the Rev. Mary (Eddie) Marshall and Gloria (Harold) Pearson of Decatur, AL and Benita (Dwight) Owens, of Hillsboro, AL; one loving brother, John (Julia) Lewis of Chattanooga, TN; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Cowan, Novella Sales, and Ophelia Cooper, all of Decatur, AL; Two brothers-in-law, Billy Joe Pitts of Somerville, AL, Albert Elliott of Trinity, AL; A close friend, Charles Cooper of Decatur, AL; One aunt, two uncles; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be noon Thursday at Love Chapel C.M.E. Church with Pastor Ophelia Davis officiating and inhumation to follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.  Public viewing will be Tuesday from 2-7 and Wednesday from 10-7 at the funeral home.
