Reynolds Funeral Home announces with deepest sympathy the passing of Mr.  Leroy (Sonny) Balentine, Jr., 75 of Augusta, GA.  Mr. Balentine, a native of Decatur, AL entered into rest Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Retired U.S. Army, Mr. Leroy Balentine Jr., of Parker Street. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Gardner Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Rufus Copeland, pastor, officiating and Reverend Mark Barnwell, eulogist. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Leroy (BT) was a faithful member of the Gardner Grove Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Doctors Hospital Burn Ministry, and member of the GGBC Senior and Male Choir. Leroy retired from the U.S. Army and was a true Alabama Crimson Tide fan. He leaves to cherish his memories: five sons: Michael (Sherika) Balentine of Decatur, AL, Ronnie Seibert, Birkenfeld, Rhenland-Pfalz, Germany, Arnold Blair, Rev. Isaac Barnwell and Rev. Mark (Crystal) Barnwell of Augusta, GA; one daughter, Linda H. Quinn, Charlotte, NC; one brother, George (Mary) Balentine, Dover, DE; his sisters: Dorothy Louise (George) Woods, Cleveland, OH, Annie Ruth Harris, Decatur, AL, Eulylia G. Balentine, Huntsville, AL, Vernette (Anthony) Elliott, Madison, AL; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Debra Cooper, Augusta, GA and Annie Mae Balentine, Decatur, AL; a special aunt, Mrs. Claudine Hines, Cleveland, OH; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 godchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
