Today we celebrate the life of our dear sister for her love, strength, loyalty, and faithfulness. Maggie Gill was born August 19, 1956 to late James and Mae Willie Derrick Gill. She departed this life on July 19, 2017 at the Huntsville Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Ralph Gill and Billy James Stewart, and sister: Mary Anna Dickerson.

Maggie was reared in the “Poplar Creek Community” on Parker Road where she made many lifelong friends. She was a member of the 1975 graduating class of Clements High School, and was always a joy to be around. Everyone who knew her knew her love of singing, whether it was at church, at the Parker Road Reunions or family gatherings. She especially loved singing unto the Lord.

Maggie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as a Savior at a young age, and remained a faithful and dedicated member of Poplar Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Ushers Board, Missionary Society, Kitchen Committee and the Choir.

Maggie leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Tonya Gill; son,  Jamice Gill, both of Athens, AL; grandchildren, Deonte’ Gill, Ziah Gill, Jamilla Gill, Donte Courter and Destiny Couter, all of Athens, AL; brothers, Robert Stewart, and Frank Derrick, both of Louisville, KY, Gary (Deborah) Gill, of Decatur, AL, James (Karen) Gill, L.C. Gill, and cousin/brother: Steve (Glenda) Williams, all of Athens, AL; sisters, Carrie Peterson of Louisville, KY, Agnes Stewart and Barbara Lee, both of Nashville, TN; aunt:, Lula Lee, of Athens, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
