A Celebration of Life for Mrs.Minnie Louise Borum Swoopes Chatman, 80 of Nashville, TN and formerly of Hillsboro will be noon Saturday, February 17, 2018 at United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer with Bishop T.D Strong officiating and inhumation to follow in Sterrs Cemetery. Mrs. Minnie was born January 27, 1938 in Hillsboro, Alabama to Isom Borum, Sr. and Rebecca Davis Borum. She ascended into heaven at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at McKendree Village Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.
Minnie was a 1937 graduate of Tennessee Valley High School in Hillsboro, Alabama. She was baptized at an early age and joined First Missionary Baptist Church, Hillsboro, Alabama, where she was an active member, serving as an usher and choir member, and working with many church auxiliaries. She later joined Pentecostal House of Prayer in Decatur, Alabama, where she was an active and faithful member, serving as an usher, and as a church mother, and working with many church auxiliaries.
Minnie married Harold Wendell Swoopes, and to this union two children were born, Karen Michelle, and Garland Wendell.
Minnie was preceded in death by: her son, Garland, parents; sister, Florence Gurnice Borum Turnbore; brother, Andrew Phillip Borum, and brother Isom Borum, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Karen Michelle; husband,Percy Lee Chatman; stepson, Bryant Williams; sister, Margie Carey; sister-in-law, Frances Owens and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, friends, and the United Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer church family.
