A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Patrice “Trice” Cummings Owens, 45 of Decatur, AL will be 1:00 PM, Saturday at Freeman Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Perryman officiating and inhumation to follow in Moulton Memory Gardens.  The body of Mrs. Owens will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  Public viewing will be Thursday from 2-7 and Friday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Patrice “Trice” Owens made her transition on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL, surrounded by her family.  She was born in New Orleans, LA on August 9, 1971 to Salvador and Norma Valdery Cummings.

Trice accepted Christ at an early age while attending St. John Vianney Church, Lockport, IL.  She later joined Freeman Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Moulton, AL where she was a devoted member of the usher board.

She was a graduate of Joliet Central High School in Joliet, IL. and attended Calhoun Community College in Decatur where she met many people and formed close relationships that still exist today.

After moving to Decatur, AL she met David Owens and they were united in marriage on July 23, 1994.  To this union God blessed them with two children, Anthony and Ashaya. She was later blessed with a granddaughter, Kai who was her pride and joy. She was a committed wife, mother, and grandmother. Trice supported her children in all their school and community activities ahd continued to be their number one supporter even in her failing health.

Trice was employed at K Mart for several years and then Wal-Mart until her health began to fail.

 She was preceded in death by; maternal grandparents, Jim and Edna (Toefield) Valdery; paternal grandparents, Sidney and Alma (Parker) Cummings.

Patrice leaves to cherish her memory: a loving devoted husband, David whom she affectionately referred to as “My Lil Husband”; two children, Anthony and Ashaya of Decatur, AL.; granddaughter, Kai, Hillsboro, AL; father, Salvador Cummings, New Orleans, LA; mother,  Norma Cummings, Bolingbrook, IL; three sisters, Regina Richards, Bolingbrook, IL; Rhonda (Matt) Heath, Shorewood, IL and Tajmah Payton, Bolingbrook, IL; two God-children, Jeff and Mariyah Givens, Decatur, Al; aunts,  Faye (Larry) Hill, Bolingbrook, IL; Patricia (Paul) Summers, Joliet, IL and Marie Carson, Decatur, AL and one uncle, Joseph (Brenda) Valdery of New Orleans, LA; two sisters-in-law, Delaine (Paul) Square, Huntsville, AL and Janetia Owens, Moulton, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
