A Celebration of Life for  Mrs. Patricia Ann Horton Wynn, 67 of Shreveport, LA and formerly of Hillsboro, Alabama will be noon, Tuesday at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Tim Swoope officiating and inhumation to follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be Monday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home. Mrs.

Patricia Ann Horton Wynn departed this earthly life and began her eternal life on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Christus Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. She was born in Morgan County (Decatur) but was raised in Lawrence County (Hillsboro) to the late Mr. Walter Connett Horton and Mrs. Eva Mae Swoope Horton on August 23, 1949. Patricia was the oldest of six children and was known by her siblings as “Trish.” She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and united with the First Missionary Baptist Church of Hillsboro.

Patricia received her formal education from Tennessee Valley High School (TVHS) in Hillsboro, AL. She was an outgoing student with an unforgettable persona. Her name will forever be a part of Black History as evidenced by the prominent desegregation lawsuit of 1966, Patricia Ann Horton vs. The Lawrence County Board of Education with her late father, Walter C. Horton being one of the pioneers of this legendary case.

After graduating from TVHS she moved to Cleveland, Ohio and worked at BlueCross BlueShield. While in Cleveland she worshipped at Holy Trinity Baptist Church. After several years in Ohio, she returned to Alabama and worked at Monsanto Chemical Plant. She was united in marriage to Fred Wynn Jr., from this union there was one son, Adrian. She worked at Compass Bank, Decatur, AL until her retirement. She later joined Shiloh P.B. Church, Madison AL., where she served on the Mothers’ Board and member of the choir. She relocated to Shreveport, LA with her husband and son until her death.

Patricia exhibited the attributes of being loving, kind, and sincere. Those who knew her remember her warmth, nonjudgmental attitude, and contagious smile.  Her “unselfishness” is truly what made her character stand out.

Patricia leaves to cherish her heartfelt memory: mother, Eva Mae Horton, Hillsboro, AL; husband, Fred Wynn Jr., Shreveport, LA; one son, Adrian M. (Daphne) Wynn, Shreveport, LA; step-daughter, Latonia Strachan, Starke, FL; three sisters, Brenda J. Almond, Hillsboro, AL; Sherry Y. Horton, Birmingham, AL; Dr. Jacqueline A.
