A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Shine Ester Thompson Banargent, 59 of North Courtland, AL will be noon, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Courtland with Bishop Thomas Davis Jr. officiating and the Reverend Chris Neloms, host pastor.  Inhumation will follow in Annie Mae Willingham Memorial Gardens.  The body will lie in  repose one hour prior to funeral.  Public viewing will be Monday from 2-7 and Tuesday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Shine Ester was born in Lawrence County, Alabama to Ora Lee Houston Thompson and Woodie Thompson, Jr. on June 22, 1957.  She transitioned this life on May 4, 2017 in Courtland, Alabama.

Sister Shine Ester accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church of Courtland where her membership remained until her death.

Mrs. Thompson-Banargent was a 1975 graduate of Courtland High School and worked at Wayne Farms for many years until her health failed.

Shine Ester was always a caring, giving, and joyful person. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing food. However, a stroke six years ago caused her disposition to change and she was no longer outgoing but more reserved and became a woman of few words.  Yet, every now and then you would see a glimpse of the “Old Shine” in something she would say or do.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Janie Tullos, Lucille Armstrong, Katherine Swoopes, and Laura Halfacre; brother, James East.

Cherished memories are left with: sisters, Lucy Young of Tanner, AL, Dorothy (George) Palmer of Chattanooga, TN;  brothers, O’Neal (Lugertha) Houston of Decatur, AL, Luther (Gladies) Thompson of Jackson, MS, Paul Mason of Decatur, AL; a very special and devoted friend/caretaker, Bernard Turner of Courtland, AL; cherished niece,Ava Young of Tanner, AL, step-son,  Suran Banargent of Savannah, GA; and step-daughter, Jasmine Banargent of Houston, TX,  and  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
