Therman White
May 7, 1926 ~ June 7, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years OldA Celebration of Life for Mr. Therman White, 91 of Danville will be noon, Wednesday at Oakville Missionary Baptist Church and inhumation to follow in Lindsey Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Tuesday from 2-7 at the funeral home.
Mr. White was born on May 7, 1926 in Landersville, Alabama to the late Andrew White and Lillie Pruitt Whitson. He departed this life on June 7, 2017 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.
He accepted Christ at an early age.
He was educated at Moulton High School in Lawrence County, Alabama. After high school he enlisted into the U. S. Navy where he served for 22 years. After retirement from active duty he continued his service as a civilian employee as a Security Guard at a navy base. He then returned to the Oakville Community where he served in many civic and community organizations including the following: one of the founders of the Jesse Owens Park, Jesse Owens Park Board, Lawrence County 911 Board, Lawrence County Chapter of the Alabama Democratic Conference, National Association of American Veterans.
Therman was very outgoing, loved to challenge people to think and had no problem expressing his personal opinion. He was a loving and giving person that would help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bishop Paul White; five sisters, Tommie Lee McDaniel, Annie Williams, Corrina McDaniel, Gladys Swoopes, Alberta Mills; four brothers, Benny Whitson, Bluitt Whitson, Essie Whitson, and Doc Whitson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a son, Calvin (Migdahlia) White of Macedonia, OH; a special devoted friend, Louise Pointer of Danville; granddaughters, Paula (Keith) White-Orr of Danville, AL; grandsons, Terrence White of Danville, AL, Maurice Taylor of Decatur, Anthony Bryant of Cleveland, OH; four step-grandchildren, Jemeana (Labron) Robinson, Canderiah Smothers and Knegleshia (Corey) Cobb of Madison, AL, Terra (Juni’) Carter of Huntsville, AL; three brothers, Willard Whitson of Mansfield, OH, Homer Whitson of Lewisburg, TN, Melvin Burgess of Oakville, AL; a devoted loving caregiver whom he looked upon as daughter Minister Janet White; a daughter-in-law, Pastor Emma White; a host of other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers and Flower Bearers will be family and friends.
