Johnny Echols Obituary

Graveside Service for Mr. Johnny Echols ,65, of Moulton, Alabama will be 2:00PM Saturday at Moulton Memory Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Johnny Echols was born on November 20, 1958, to the late Mearlon and Bessie Lee Boyd Echols in Moulton, Alabama. He departed this life on April 5, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Alabama.

Johnny left Alabama at the age of 21 years old and moved to Albany, Georgia, soon after relocating, he met his wife, Sharon James Echols in 1982. Through this union one daughter was born, Shajona Echols.

Johnny was a country man, but quickly adapted to the city and became a city man. He never lost his love and passion for hunting, fishing and his skilled talent for martial arts, Kungfu.

Johnny worked at The McGregor Golf Company for 25 years as an expert machinist. He was a dedicated employee, and because of his humble spirit and love for his family back home, he was nick named “Alabama”. Johnny was also known as the best welder in Albany, Ga. The years quickly rolled by, and Johnny retired in 2003.

Johnny was a compassionate man and believed in serving in his community. He spent many hours volunteering at the Lord’s Pantry Soup kitchen in Albany, Ga.

Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon James Echols; parents; Mearlon and Bessie Echols, two brothers Leon Echols, Lucion Echols, and three sisters, Carrie Jones, Azalee Echols and Annette Swoopes.

He leaves to cherish his memory; one daughter Shajona Echols of Albany Ga; his sisters, Claudia Holland (Osie), Moulton, AL. Marian Hampton, Huntsville, AL; one brother, Freddy Echols (Annetta) Hartselle, AL; one aunt Bertha McDaniel of Moulton, AL; one uncle Willie Gene Boyd, Moulton, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. A very special niece, he called his favorite, LaShundra Craig of Moulton, AL.
