Alice Maude Ricks

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Alice M. Ricks, 62 of Decatur, AL. will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Grace Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Courtland, AL with Elder Billy Mason officiating and Dr. Reginald Roberts host pastor. Inhumation will follow in George Ricks Cemetery in Leighton, AL. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral service.  Public viewing will be Monday from 11-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

Sister Alice Maude Ricks was the only child born to the late Jessie Madden and the late Gurniece Ricks, on January 1, 1957 in Leighton, AL. She entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2019 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

She attended Leighton Training School and later began work at Tennessee Valley Head Start. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She had a heart for the kitchen. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her main dish was her chicken and dressing. When she wasn’t in the kitchen, she enjoyed quiet time fishing on the river bank, working her word search puzzle books, and during football season, she enjoyed watching her favorite team, the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Sister Alice accepted Christ to be her personal Savior and joined Cave Spring Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Frank Roach was pastor. After moving to the Lawrence County area, she was baptized and joined Grace Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, where Dr. Luther L. Roberts was the pastor. She later joined Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Billie Mason. This is where she remained faithful until her health failed.

Sister Alice was preceded in death by her parents; the grandparents who raised her, John and Emma Deloney.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory; five daughters, Mary Ricks of Huntsville, AL, Gloria (Robert) Ricks of Decatur, AL, Pauline (Orlandis) Summerhill of Florence, AL, Alexis (Deangelo) Ricks, Sherika (Michael) Balentine both of Decatur, AL; one son, Christopher Ricks of Decatur, AL, ten grandchildren, Te’Erica, Aaliyah “Nae Nae”, Dantrell, Nalaysha, Sandra, Temperance, Zanielle, Calvin, Zion Grace, Jessica; two great-great grandchildren, Santrail and Jamari; a special friend of 18 years, Timothy Hoard; a beloved nephew, Marquis Deloney; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends
