Homegoing Service for  Mr. Bennie F. Bynum, 78 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Moulton Heights M.B. Church with the Reverend Grady Gill officiating and inhumation in Calvary Memorial Gardens.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  Public viewing will be Tuesday from 2-6 and Wednesday from 10-6 at Reynolds Funeral Home. He is the husband of Mrs. Cora Gill Bynum.

Bennie Franklin Bynum was born on December 25, 1940 in Morgan County, Alabama to the late Jodie Bynum and Berzina Orr Bynum.  He departed this life on November 29, 2019 at the Decatur Morgan Hospital surrounded by his family.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Hartselle Baptist Church.

Bennie was a graduate of Morgan County Training School in Hartselle, Alabama. After high school he entered the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne.  He was employed at 3M and retired with over ten years. He later was employed at Decatur General Hospital and also retired from Decatur General.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, planting and a special love for his dog Marlei. Bennie was affectionately called “Mr. B.” by his family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his eight siblings;

Jody, Cleveland B., Emma Jean, Minnie Lee, Eddie Lewis, John Samuel, Willie and Curtis Lee; one daughter, Lashonda McDaniel.

Ben leaves to cherish his precious memory: his loving wife of 58 years, Cora Gill-Bynum of Decatur; his children, Timothy Smith (Leslie) of Decatur, Renada Petry (Vernell) of Spokane, WA, Rashonda McDaniel of Decatur; a special aunt, Erin Jean Herring (Dwight) of Hartselle; a special sister-in-law, Wille Mae Gill Reynolds of Decatur; brother-in-law, Pastor Grady Gill of Decatur; a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, other relatives and friends.
