A Celebration of Life for Mr. Billy M Petty, 69 of Moulton, AL, will be noon Friday, October 4, 2019 at Freeman Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Timothy Perryman officiating and inhumation in Moulton Memory Gardens.The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Thursday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Billy Maurice Petty was born on October 29, 1949 in Moulton, AL. He was the oldest child of William and Dorothy Fouche Petty. He departed this life on September 29, 2019 in Decatur, AL.
Billy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Freeman Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Moulton, AL. He was educated in the Lawrence County School system and graduated from Moulton High School. After graduating high school, Billy worked various jobs until he was hired by Monsanto, where he worked from 1973 to 1982. After leaving Monsanto he was hired by Delphi in 1984 and retired from there in 2006.
Billy was a man that had to stay busy even in his retirement and you would see him mowing lawns all over Moulton or find him working in his yard. He enjoyed taking trips with his extended family. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling and watching sports either on television or when his grandchildren played sports. During football season, you would see him in the stands at Alabama A&M games. Billy lived his life to the fullest and was a true friend to all that he met.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents JC and Luevenia Taylor.
Billy was a man of few words and loved his family, especially his grandchildren, Janae and Lauren. He left loving memories that will be cherished by his caring and devoted wife of 28 years, Lorraine Owens Petty of Moulton, AL; two daughters, LaShawn (Sontreise) Banks of Madison, AL and LaTasha Hurth (Ronnie Allen) of Moulton, AL; two grandchildren, Jasmine Janae Phillips of Dallas, TX and Lauren Banks of Madison, AL; a brother, Roderick Petty of Moulton, AL; two nieces, Regina Petty of Dallas, TX and Bethany (Willie) Pickett of Decatur, Al; two great nieces, Lela Pickett and Ayia Grace Petty of Decatur, AL; great nephew, Kelton Petty of Decatur, AL; three brothers-in-law, Ray (Belinda) Owens of Decatur, AL; Rayburn Owens of Moulton, AL, Kent Owens of Annapolis, MD; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Owens of Highland Park, NJ, Karen (Edward) Martin of Decatur, AL; and a host of other relatives, cousins and friends
