A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Bishop Miller, 67 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Shiloh M.B. Church with Dr. George Franklin, Officiating. Interment will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be on Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Bishop "Doddie" Miller was born July 19, 1950, in Decatur, AL. He departed this life on June 23, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the only child of the late Albert Lyle Jr. and Amy Miller. He accepted Christ as a young man and was baptized at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Town Creek, Alabama.
He was a 1968 graduate of Lakeside High School where he played on the basketball and football teams. He was employed at General Electric for 30 years, until he retired. He was a die-hard Alabama fan. He was loved and admired by everyone who knew him and he loved his family and friends dearly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bishop Miller, parents and one grandson, Brandon Harris.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife of 31 years, Catherine H. Miller of Decatur; his children, Sean Smith of Huntsville, AL, Lativia Adkins of Decatur, Sharonda Ricks (Samuel) of Trinity, AL, Sharanda Miller of Birmingham, AL, Melvin Harris of Huntsville, AL, Karen Riley (Joe) of Decatur, and James Harris (Jennifer) of Birmingham, AL; sixteen grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Diane Moore; a special friend/brother, Michael White; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
