Cecil E Bates

Cecil E. Bates was born on July 8, 1956 to Charlie Bates, Sr. and the late Louise McGuire Bates in Chattanooga, TN. He departed this life on April 9, 2019 at his residence in Decatur, Alabama. Cecil accepted Christ at an early age. He was currently a member of Westside M.B. Church in Decatur, AL.

He attended Austin High School in Decatur . He worked in construction, but was currently disabled.

He was married to Jean Manetta and to this union one daughter, Toccaro was born. He was later married to Cassandra Bates.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise McGuire Baker and stepfather, Willie T. Baker.

Cecil leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted, dedicated wife, Cassandra Bates of Decatur; a daughter, Toccaro (Jordan) Barkley of White Plains, MD; stepson, Lemont (Shannon) Herring of Bowen, GA; granddaughter, Mariah Barkley; father, Charlie ( Bernice) Bates, Sr. of Decatur; siblings, Charlie (Pat) Bates, Jr of Piscataway, NJ, Marvin L. (Hope) Bates of Yonkers, NY, Gregory (Jeniece) Bates of Decatur; Mary Walton of Atlanta, GA, Linda Bates Taylor and Teresa Hambright Bates both of Decatur, Valerie (Coynis) Smith of Madison, Marilyn Bailey and Donna Baker both of Athens and Jonalyn (James) Miller of Gadsden, AL, Norma Jean Ashford of Courtland, AL, Loretta (Carl) Cooper of Decatur, AL, Pauletta (Vincent) Tennison and Linda Taylor both of Decatur; brothers-in-law, The Rev. Craig (Mary) McClure and Barry McClure both of Wedowee, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

At the request of Cecil there will be no services.
