David L. Edwards

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. David L. Edwards, 78 of Athens, Alabama will be noon Saturday, March 31, 2018 at New Hopewell M.B. Church in Tanner with Pastor Larry Lockett officiating.  Inhumation will be in Briggs Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  Public viewing will be Thursday from 2-7 and Friday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.

David Lee Edwards was born on July 30, 1939 to the late Robert Edwards, Jr. and Viola Briggs Edwards.  He departed this life and entered his heavenly home on March 24, 2018.

David confessed Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member, served on the Usher Board and sang in the Male Choir at New Hopewell M. B. Church. David worked at Huntsville Utilities and then at Waste Management until his health began to fail.

David Lee Edwards is preceded in death by his sister, Louise Scruggs and his brother, Doyle Edwards.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife,  Betty Edwards aka “B”; his children, David Smartt of Huntsville, AL, Valerie Edwards of Huntsville, AL, Rodney Russell (Sonja) of TN and Sharon Wilson of Athens, AL; siblings, Carolyn Cater of Huntsville and Carl (Edith) Edwards of Valhermosa Springs; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
