Dorothy Jean Scruggs

Dorothy Jean Scruggs of Chardon, Ohio  passed away on September 29, 2019. She was a 1956 graduate of Glenville High School in Cleveland, OH. Dorothy went on to be a Social Worker for the Cuyahoga County Department of Human Services from which she later retired.

Survivors include long-time friend and caretaker, David Marecki, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother, Daisy Scruggs; brothers; John Kenneth Scruggs (Kathleen Scruggs); Willie Clinton Scruggs; and her sister, Ernestine Delores Boswell.

Dorothy “Dot” accepted Christ at an early age. God was always in her life, guiding and protecting her throughout her journey. She always put God first and attended church regularly until her health failed. She always expressed her unconditional love and concern for her family. She will be truly missed.

Family will receive friends Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home (116 South St. Chardon, OH) with funeral service immediately following with the Reverend Leo Owens officiating. Burial at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY will be held Monday, October 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
