A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Elease P. Short, 90 of Madison, AL. will be noon Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Mt. Zion C.P. Church in America with The Reverend James O. Robinson officiating and inhumation to follow in Oakland Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Thursday from 2-6 and Friday from 10-7 at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Elease Patton Short was born on August 30, 1928 to the late Clifford Patton Sr. and the late Sallie Reedus -Patton in Limestone County, AL. Elease entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the River City Nursing Facility in Decatur, AL.
Elease accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at an early age and joined Mt. Zion C.P.C.A. under the leadership of the late Reverend Pearl Dancy. She served faithfully as a member of both the church and Senior Choir until her health declined.
Elease was educated in the Limestone County School System . She worked in the Decatur City School System as a food service worker and in later years she married John Short and became a homemaker. Elease loved helping others and her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Elease was preceded in death by her husband, John Short; two brothers, Cashus Claude Patton and Robert Patton; two sisters, Margaret Patton -Jones and Ophelia Ann Patton.
Her loving memory will be cherished by : her devoted and loving daughter, Dorothy Jefferson of Madison, AL; two step -daughters, Maxine Holly of Madison, AL and Mary Short -Tremble (Angelo) of Montgomery, AL; three siblings, Stella Logan, Beulah Patton of Madison, AL and Clifford Patton of Town Creek, AL; grandchildren, Malcolm Rodgers (Mashell) of Madison, AL, Felicia Lyle, Natasha Rodgers of Decatur, AL, Romonica Harris of Madison, AL, S. Ray Harris of Los Angeles, CA , Anton Tremble, Mario Tremble both of Montgomery, AL; two life -long friends, Mrs. Savannah Hundley and Ms. Cassie Scales, both of Madison, AL; along with a host of great grands, great -great grands, cousins, nieces and nephews .
