Fred Long Obituary
A Memorial Service for Mr. Fred Lee Long will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, 3:00 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with Brother Johnny Crowder, Officiating.
Fred Lee Long was born on June 30, 1934 in Sheffield, Alabama to the late Horace Abernathy and Addie Charlotte Long. He expired on May 4, 2018 at River City Care and Rehabilitation Center, in Decatur, Alabama at the age of 83.
Fred worked for the Alabama Highway Department for many years and then worked at Shelby Construction Company where he retired.
He was married to Bertha Brawley Long of Town Creek, AL in 1953 and to this union four children were born; Alvia Long, Yterria Long, Vonjetta Long and Freddie Long, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and one sister, Helen Abernathy.
Fred leaves to cherish his memory: four children, Alvia Long Harris, Yterria Long Hightower, Vonjetta Long Thompson and Freddie Long, Jr.; three stepchildren, George Hill, Barbara Douglass and Cedric Long (Elizabeth); nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Ingram (James); other relatives and friends.
