Gwendolyn Baugh Obituary

A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Gwendolyn Eliza Baugh 52, of Decatur, Alabama  will be held on Sunday, 2:00 p.m. at Macedonia C.P. Church in America with Dr. G. Lynne Herring pastor officiating.   Inhumation will follow in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  Public viewing will be Friday from 2:00PM-7:00PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.   

Gwendolyn Eliza Jane Baugh-Bumpus was born October 15, 1965, to the late Warren T. Baugh and Eva Hart Baugh in Chicago, IL.

Gwen, affectionately known as “Winnie” or “Mouse”, accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chicago, IL.

In Chicago, she worked as a CNA and was an active member of the P.T.A. She served as Youth Administrator for Mayor Daley at City Hall. Upon moving to Alabama, she served as secretary and treasurer of the NAACP of Morgan County; a Life Insurance Broker at  BBVA Compass Bank; Membership Chairperson for A.D.C; a community activist; and was a Licentiate for the Tennessee Valley Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America.

“Winnie” enjoyed sewing, cooking, dancing and interior decorating. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean  Bumpus and a sister, Berea Baugh-Campbell.

She leaves to mourn her passing: a daughter, Evita (Jeffrey) Young-Dixon; stepson, De’Norris; grandchildren, Samiyah, Alexzandreal, Azaria and Nevaeh; step-grandson, Elijah; sisters, Roselyn, Lynette, Valencia and Margo;  brothers, Jerome and Landreth; niece, Marquessa; nephew, Joseph; great nieces and great nephews, Radijah, Derrell, Jeremiah and DeAnthony; great-great nephew, Josiah; special cousin, Dr. Trevia (Burt) Williams; other relatives and many friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Men of ADC and NAACP and Honorary Pallbearers will be Officers of Macedonia CPCA. Active Flower Attendants will be Women of ADC and NAACP and Honorary Flower Attendants will be Women’s Ministry of Macedonia CPCA.
