A Celebration of Life for Mr. James “Sonny” Elliott Jr., 72 of Decatur will be noon Monday, May 14, 2018 at Reynolds Funeral Home with Bishop R.M. Johnson officiating and inhumation will follow in Decatur City Cemetery.
James Robert Jr. “Sonny” was born November 6, 1943, in Hillsboro, Alabama to the late James Robert Sr. and Lola Mae Hill Elliott. Mr. Elliott suffered from Alzheimer’s and disappeared in October of 2016. His remains were located in February of 2018 in Jackson County, Alabama. His date of death was officially confirmed to be October 11, 2016.
James accepted Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Christian Church. He attended Tennessee Valley Training School in Hillsboro, Alabama and Calhoun College. James served in The United States Army. He was employed at Goodyear tire and rubber for over 25yrs.
James was preceded in death his parents; grandparents James B. and Ophelia Elliott, Pearlie Bates Hill and Big Joe Hill, a loving wife of 38 years, Barbara Morrow Elliott, cousin Ophelia Elliott Morrow; granddaughter, Aberonica Turner and grandson, Reco Sales.
James leaves to cherish his memory: his children Pamela Elliott Smith, Jacquline Morrow, Veronda Sales, and Vivian Sales all of Decatur; sister; Lula(Pertis) Ayers of Decatur, AL; brother; Darius Elliott, of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren; Cordarrius Elliott, Ashley Elliott, Lakesha Elliott, Cameron Smith, Cory(Melissa) Morrow, Alexis Sales, Kendra Stover, D’Andria Sales all of Decatur; AL, nephew; Pertis (Cynthia) Ayers Jr. of Huntsville, Al; brother-in law, Donald (Lynn)Morrow, Snellville, GA; a host of cousins and many friends.
