A Celebration of Life for Deacon John T. Booker, 71 of Decatur, AL will be 1:00 pm Wednesday at Bell Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Benjamin Burt officiating and inhumation in Bell Church Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Public viewing will be Tuesday from 11:00am-6:30pm. The family will receive friends from 6:30pm-7:30pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mr. John Thomas Booker was born September 1, 1947 in Morgan County to the late Curtis Lee Booker Sr. and Beulah Powell Booker. He made his transition to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital.
He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a very young age and joined Bell Primitive Baptist Church. He was a faithful and dedicated member and this was exemplified by him serving in many ministries including; Chairman of the Deacon Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board, and the building Committee.
Mr. Booker was married to Murna Coffey Booker and to this union two children were born. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and a loyal friend. Everyone knew his signature word was “Absolutely.”
He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis Lee Booker Sr., and Beula Powell Booker; a son, Keith Leonard Booker; a daughter, Duffy Garner; two brothers, Curtis Lee Booker, Jr. and Donald Wallace Booker.
He is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Murna Coffey Booker of Decatur; his son, Broderick DeShon Booker of Decatur; his siblings, Olivia B. (Erskine) Brown of Athens, Danella Booker of Decatur, Annie (Roger) Booker-Williams of Athens, Willa Booker and Samuel L. (Jeanetta) Booker both of Decatur; five grandchildren, Tyrie Booker, Taylor Booker, Trenton Booker, Saquan Hubbard, and Jalicia Sanders; one sister in-law, Johnnie Mae Booker of Belle Mina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
