A Celebration of Life for MRS. JOYCE MARIE MOORE WHITE , 71 of Stockbridge, Ga and formerly of Decatur, AL will be noon, Saturday at Mt. Zion C.P. Church in America in Madison with the Reverend Vincent White officiating and inhumation to follow in Thatch-Collier Cemetery.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral.  There will be no public viewing with professional services entrusted to Reynolds Funeral Home.

Joyce was born 14 March 1946 in Limestone County, Alabama to the late Deacon Arthur and Hattie Rebecca Collier Moore. She was the oldest girl, and the fraternal twin to her sister, June. She was formerly a resident of Decatur, but for the last four years she resided in the home of her son, Vincent, in Stockbridge, Georgia. She departed this life on Sunday, 25 June 2017 in Stockbridge.

JOYCE accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age at Mt Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America (CPCA), located in Madison, Alabama, under the leadership of the late Reverend Pearl Dancy. She loved her church and served as a member of the Missionary Society, later becoming a member of the Godly Women (Mother’s Board). Mother White, as she became known after joining the Godly Women (Mother’s Board) in 1993, was proud to be a member and served faithfully until her move to Stockbridge, Georgia.

MOTHER WHITE was united in marriage to the Reverend Willie Nick White, Jr., for over thirty-five years, and this union produced six boys, who to her great delight, were often referred to as Joyce’s Boys. She was by all accounts a loving, nurturing, protective, and dedicated mother to this oftimes boisterous brood. She was never happier than when she was in the midst of “her boys”, laughing, chatting, and beaming at their antics and anecdotes.

MOTHER WHITE was educated in the Limestone County School System. She was a 1964 graduate of Trinity High School in Athens, Alabama. She was a good student excelling in math and science. She received an academic scholarship to Alabama A&M University, Normal, Alabama…but opted for the “MA Degree” (i.e., marriage).

SHE was employed by the former General Electronic Incorporated, located in Decatur, Alabama, retiring in 2010.

MOTHER WHITE was a firm believer in the power and the majesty of the Lord and sought diligently to imbue this same reverence for Christ in “her boys”. She was a practitioner of simplicity, yet tastefulness; often remarking that “less is best.” She dressed stylishly yet tastefully. She kept a home so clean that people often remarked “you could almost eat off the floor!” She could appear reserved who did not know her, but was known as a comedienne, a raconteur, and a master checkers player to her family and her close friends. She made every effort to be kind and gracious to all she met.

SHE was preceded in death by her loving parents: her sisters Kathy Ann Moore, Bonita Eugenia Moore Evans, and Hattie Lorraine Moore Fletcher; and a beloved niece, Stephanie Michelle Scruggs Rice.

PRECIOUS memories will be cherished and celebrated by “her boys”: Craig A. White, Brent D. White (Theresa), the Reverend Marshall K. White (Jennifer), Keith L. White (Petrina), the Reverend Willie Vincent White (Denita), and grandson, Tymon M. Garner White; other grandchildren: Eric, Micah-Brent, Joshua, Brianna, Jordan, Blair, Brooke, Taleah, Jayla, and Willie Vincent II: and one great-grandchild: Xylan.
