Leo Sykes Jr. Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Leo Sykes Jr., 65 of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at King's Memorial United Methodist Church with The Rev. James Miller officiating and The Rev. Roderick Stallworth host pastor.  The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral service.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:30pm-6:30pm at Reynolds Funeral Home. 

Leo Sykes, Jr., was born on March 19, 1953 to the late Leo Sykes, Sr. and Fannie Turney Sykes in Decatur, Alabama. He departed this life on August 7, 2019 at his residence.

Leo who was affectionately call “Bug”, attended and graduated from Decatur High School in 1972. He later moved to Milwaukee, WI and worked diligently at Redmond Construction and Rice Construction. Longing to go back home, he moved back to Decatur and worked at Shelby Construction where he retired and later was employed at Nash Bar and Grill. He was a fun-loving person that loved to cook.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents.

Leo leaves to cherish his memory: his siblings, Bobbie Jo Bradley, Billy Turney (Ella) Milwaukee, WI, Sandra Woods (Eddie), Athens, AL, Sylvia Sykes, Timothy Sykes both of Decatur, Steve Sykes (Burnice) Portsmouth, VA, Cathy Lampkin (James), Moulton, AL and Fredrick Wade Sykes of Decatur; two aunts, Lula Juan Turney of Decatur and Ruth Nell Stephenson, Milwaukee, WI; uncles, Joe “Bond” Turney, Milwaukee, WI and The Rev. Equator Black of Somerville, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be cherished by his three best friends, Thomas Elliott, Tommy Elliott and Jerry Nash.
