On December 9th, 1926 a pair of gifts were delivered to the world in the form of Louis and Lois Hackney, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The twins led a typical life of brother and sister through education work and social enjoyment. They matriculated at Oakwood which is now known as Oakwood University. It was there that she met the love of her life, John H Wagner Jr. From the union of John and Lucille were born four children; Jeanette, John, Joyce, and Judy. She succeeded in government work and retired from HUD. They spent 33 years of pastoral work together from Ohio, Virginia, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Mobile, and lastly, Louisville, Kentucky. After her husband’s passing in Louisville, she elected to relocate to Decatur to live with her son and his family where she was often visited by her other children and their families. She found a spiritual home in the arms of the Alpha Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served as Deaconess for many years and was an avid and faithful supporter of all the church’s activities.
Looking forward to seeing her again are her eight grandchildren, Jevonne, Akin, Omar, Jessica, Henry Jr, Michael, Jade, and Jordyn; and Kristy and Scott; three sisters-in-law that were more like her true sisters, Evelyn Thomas Hatcher, Eloise Wagner and Carole Wagner Matthews and a host of other relatives and friends but most of all are the ones who were blessed to be born by her: Jeanette Wagner Turner (Tyrone) of Accokeek, MD, Dr. John H Wagner of Decatur, AL and Judy Wagner Griffith (Henry) of Powell, OH
A service honoring the blessed memory of Mrs. Wagner will be 11:00 am Friday, March 8, 2019 at Alpha Seventh-day Adventist with Elder Furman F. Fordham II Eulogist and Elder Charles Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Garden of Memory.
