A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Nannie K. Young, 96 of Courtland, AL. will be noon Friday at Jackson Chapel C.M.E. Church with The Reverend Dr. Shirley Fletcher officiating and The Reverend Billy Ray Young, Eulogist. Interment and Committal Service will be held at 2:15 PM in Calvary Memorial Gardens.
Nannie Kate McWilliams Young was born on June 10, 1922 to the late Henry McWilliams and Emma McWilliams. She departed this life on April 7, 2019 at Riverside Nursing Center in Decatur, AL.
She started her walk with Christ at mid-life and joined Jackson Chapel C.M.E. Church in Courtland, AL where she served faithfully, on the Stewardess Board and Missionary Society until her health began to fail.
She worked as a private housekeeper and child care provider. Mrs. Young put a stamp on the hearts of all who knew her. She was known to be an excellent cook.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mr. Wyatt Young, Sr.; two sisters, Bertha Connell and Mariah Robinson; daughter-in-law, Dovie Fletcher; one grandson, Conis Fletcher, one step-granddaughter, Tiffany Young.
[See the source image] She leaves to treasure her memory: one son, The Rev. Lawson Fletcher, Sr. of Moulton, AL; three stepsons, Wyatt Young, Jr. (Cordelia), Robert Young, and the Rev. Billy Ray Young (Gloria); one step-daughter, Elaine Young, all of Hillsboro, AL; 10 grandchildren, Armanda Grandison, Bobbie Grant, Emma Kate (Donald) Davis, Lawson (Clara) Fletcher, Jr., Anthony (Carolyn) Mason, Sharon Fletcher, Carol Smith, Elaine Fletcher, David (Tonia) Fletcher and Ketrina Fletcher; one honorary son, Bill Cauram of Birmingham, AL; and a host great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
