A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Ola Mae Sanders Stevenson Johnson, 83 of Decatur, ALwill be noon Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Red Bank M.B.Church with the Reverend Lymos McDonald officiating.  Repast will follow at the church immediately after the service. Inhumation will follow repast in Sterrs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00pm-6:00pm at the funeral home.

Ola Mae was born December 11, 1934 in Lawrence County, in Town Creek, Alabama to the late Rosie Lee and Albert Sanders.

She confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a  devoted Mother of the church and Deaconess. She remained a faithful member until she became ill. She was a wonderful beautician, and she loved to cook, laugh, and entertain family, friends, and neighbors.

God called his earthly angel to heaven on November 21, 2018 at Eliza  Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Alabama.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosie Lee and Albert Sanders; son, Dexter Stevenson; late husband, Martin Johnson; and sister, Caroline Bell.

She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Collis H. Stevenson of Decatur, Alabama. They had two children, the late Dexter L. Stevenson and Kirby T. Stevenson.

She leaves to cherish her memory many loved ones: one son, Kirby    (Dr. Shelia Nash) Stevenson of Madison, AL;  one step daughter, Shirley Stevenson of Courtland, AL; six grandchildren, Andreas "Tian” (Dr. Quanda Watson) Stevenson of Huntsville, AL, Angelo Garth, Terrance Stevenson, and Dexter Stevenson of Decatur, AL,  Dr. Kecenia Stevenson of Tallahassee, FL, and Keegan Stevenson of Madison, AL; two sisters, Jessie Pearl (Alvin) Barrett of Garner, NC, and Jacqueline Freeman of Decatur, AL; and one devoted brother-in-law, Fred Freeman of Town Creek, AL; and the late Caroline (Willie) Bell of Wynn, Arkansas. She had five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

She later married Mr. Martin Johnson (who preceded her in death) of Town Creek, AL. His children are Willie (Thelma) Johnson of Town Creek, AL, and Virginia (Cornelius) Stovall of Decatur, AL.
