Ollie Taylor Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Mother Ollie Ruth Taylor, 91 of Decatur, AL, will be noon Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Fletcher's Chapel P.B. Church in Madison with Elder Kenneth Lankford officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Repast will be immediately after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.  Inhumation will be in Sterrs Cemetry at approximately 2:30p.m. with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Ollie Ruth Taylor was born May 14, 1928 in Belle Mina, Alabama to the late Sophia Evans. She transitioned to her Heavenly home on October 15, 2019 at her residence in Decatur, Alabama.

Ollie confessed a belief in Christ at an early age and joined Fletcher’s Chapel P.B. Church where she remained faithful serving in many areas of the church.  She was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, severed as an usher and a dedicated mother of the church. Ollie loved Lord and it showed in the way she lived and loved life.

Ollie was a loving, caring and strong woman. She was very soft spoken but always brought joy to others.  Ollie had a big heart and loved to help others in need.  She loved her family and was very supportive in their lives. Most importantly, she instilled in her children the importance of love and to trust in the Lord.  Even through the pain, Ollie was a soldier who fought hard. Her strength and dedication would not allow her to feel defeated. She was determined to fight until the end.

Ollie was preceded in death by her parents; daughters-in-law, Edith Evans, Patricia Taylor; son-in-law, Willie Watkins.

Ollie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. She leaves her precious memory to be cherished by: her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Willie Taylor Sr.; nine children, Charles Evans, Doris Bell (Stephene), Willie James, Linda Jordan (Randall), Billy Taylor, Laura Watkins, Irvin “Kent” Taylor, Janice Jones (Michael), all of Decatur, Lesia Hill (Joe) of Hillsboro, AL; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; she also leaves behind one special caregiver and friend, Emma Jean Jefferson; special cousins, Rosa King, Georgia Fletcher and David Fletcher; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
