Funeral Service for Ruby Lee Clemons Garth, 89 of Decatur will be held at noon on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Macedonia C.P. Church in America with the Reverend Leo Fuqua Jr. officiating and the Reverend Dr. G. Lynne Herring, host pastor.  Inhumation will follow in Decatur City Cemetery.

Mother Garth was born on July 8, 1924 in Morgan County, Alabama to the late Henry Clemons and Mattie Garth.  She entered into eternal life on January 13, 2014 at her residence. Mother Garth attended Morgan County Training School.  She was married to the late Willie Garth.  Mrs. Garth was a devoted mother, a doting grandmother, and a marvelous homemaker. She was attentive and supportive to her family and church. She was a community babysitter and loved all the children in the community. Parents could rely on her taking care of their children. 

Mother Garth accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of Minor Hill M.B. Church where she was a Mother of the church.   She was the founder and organizer of the Usher Board.   Mother Garth committed to the Lord early in her life.  She demonstrated a quiet yet powerful life in God until the end of her journey. Her spirit of service and generosity to her family and community served as a living testimony to the power of faith and the goodness of God.

She was preceded in death her husband, Willie P. Garth, her parents; grandmother, Lizzie Clemons; sisters, Betty Bailey, Henrietta Clemons, Clara Hodges, Sara Lynch, Johnetta Clemons; and  brother, Jessie Clemons.

She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Wilbert P.  (Mattie) Garth of Dallas, TX, Calvin E. (Nettie) Garth of Enterprise, AL, Ben F. (Marlene) Garth and Nettie J. Jones both of Decatur; sister, Mary Jo Flakes of Buffalo, NY; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Honorary Flower Attendant will be Odell Howard and Flower Attendants will be Nannett Morrow, Regina Butler, Virginia Boykin, Regina Owens, Dora Powers and Sara Birgans

Pallbearers will be Eddie Miller, Earl Garth, Demond Garth, Anthony Garth, Tommy Thomas and Brandon Garth.
