A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Whitney Renee Swoopes, 30 of Rome, GA and formery of Courtland, AL will be noon Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church of Courtland with the Reverend Christopher Neloms officiating and interment in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be Friday from10:00 am - 7:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Ms. Whitney Renee Swoopes was born February 3, 1989, to Cassandra Jones and Thomas Spangler, in Lawrence County, AL. She departed this life on June 22, 2019 in Rome, GA from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Whitney accepted Christ at an early age and joined Jackson Chapel C.M.E. Church. In 2014, she joined First Missionary Baptist Church of Courtland, AL. She attended Courtland High School and was a graduate of the Class of 2007.
Whitney was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jennifer Jones Swoopes and Robert Swoopes.
Whitney leaves to cherish her memory: a son, Elijah Boyd of Rome, GA; her mother, Cassandra Jones of Decatur, AL; her father, Thomas Spangler of Gainesville, GA; a special friend, Garry Young of Rome, GA; grandparents, Rachel Spangler of Courtland, AL, A. J. and Jocelyn Mclain of Hillsboro, AL; three brothers, LaBrandon Key of Courtland, AL, Terrell Spangler and Nigel Spangler, both of Decatur, AL; a special uncle, Lamont Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers and Flower Bearers will be members of the Courtland High School Class of 2007.
