A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel, with The Reverend Ronald Jones, officiating and Interment in Courtland Cemetery. Public viewing will be Friday, 12:00 Noon to 7:00 p.m.
William Gilchrist was born August 17, 1921 to the late Natus Gilchrist and Helen Jones Ingram. He departed this life on June 12, 2018 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
He was employed by the Lawrence-Colbert County Gas Company for 30 plus years. His hobbies were painting, wood crafts and working with his flowers.
He confessed a hope in Christ and joined First Missionary Baptist Church in Courtland.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Annie Moore Gilchrist; brothers, Andrew Jones, Robert Goode, Jesse King, Earnest Lee Yates, Charlie D. Jones; sisters, Mollie Hampton, Florence Ingram, Beatrice Thompson, Willodean Gilliam and Blanche Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, William S, Courtland, AL, and Freddie (Costella) of Decatur; three daughters, Jeanne Gilchrist McKenzie (Ron), Sacramento, CA, Nell Gilchrist Owens (Thomas), Hillsboro, Linda Gilchrist Owens, Courtland, AL, four grandchildren, Brandon Owens, China Owens, Brittney Gilchrist and Jamel Owens; two step-grandchildren, Brittney Moody and T. J. Carter; one great-grandchild, Averi Owens; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tom Hampton, Lamont Jones, Jonathan Orr, Gary Hampton, Bruce Jones and Bradley Hampton. Flower Girls will be Brenda Suggs, Dianne Miller, Lillie Hampton, Quita Jones, Teresa Goode and Helen Jones.
