Mr. Willie Leonard “Bill” Clay was born to Mr. Duvel Clay Sr. and Mrs. Oquilla Watkins Clay on April 14, 1929, in Lawrence County, Alabama.  He departed this life surrounded by family at his bedside on April 2, 2018, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

He was affectionately known as “Bill”. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age, was baptized and joined Flower Hill P.B. Church.

He attended Tennessee Valley High School.  After high school, he became a farmer. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Annie Vinson and to this union two lovely daughters were born. He relocated to Louisville, KY, where he gained employment at L. I. Drums, and worked there numerous years.

Bill moved back home to Alabama to live with and take care of his mother. He was a loving son and caregiver. He attended North Courtland Senior Center where he helped in the kitchen. He was the life of the party and others loved the attention that they received from him. He never met a stranger and was a joy to be around.
