A Celebration of Life for Mr. Willie D. “Bubba” Key, 73 of Huntsville, Alabama will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia C.P. Church in America with Dr. G Lynn Herring officiating. Inhumation will follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Mr. Key died January 29, 2019 at Huntsville Hospital.
Willie Dwain “Bubba” Key, Sr. was born on January 28, 1946 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Ida Mae McCray and the late Melvin Key. At an early age he exemplified his faith in Christ. He entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2019.
He is a graduate of Lakeside High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served abroad the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt in the Vietnam War. Willie retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier.
He was preceded in death by: a son, Willie D. Key Jr; sisters, Twannie L. Taylor and Junnette Key; a granddaughter D’Angela McLaurin.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his lovely wife of fifty seven years, Ernestine (Sutherlin) Key; two daughters, Justina M. Butler (Ralph), Detrea R. McLaurin; one brother Leonard Key (Rosalind) of Fayetteville North Carolina; two grandchildren, Brandon Dwain Butler and Bryan Edward Butler who were his pride and joy and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
