She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church. She was a 1960 graduate of Lakeside High School. Upon her graduation, she attended Calhoun Community College until the sound of the typewriter got on her nerves.

For several years, she worked at the Lurleen B. Wallace Center. Her children and grandchildren loved her. Frances had a vivacious personality and always made a memorable impression on people. She enjoyed life, yard work, shopping, quilting, cooking, and joking with family and friends. She was loved for her famous potato salad and banana pudding. She enjoyed decorating, which often meant adding as much furniture and accessories to her home as possible.
