A Memorial Service for Mr. Aaron Spencer,82, of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00AM Thursday June 6, 2024 in Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garry Jones officiating. Mr. Spencer transitioned May 22, 2024 at Decatur Health and Rehab.
Aaron Nathaniel Spencer was born, October 5, 1941 in Lewiston, Alabama. He was reared by loving adoptive parents, Elijah and Rosie Estell Spencer of Lewiston, AL. Years later as an adult, Aaron connected with his biological parents, Dealva Cummings Patterson of Georgia and Ross Malone, Jr. of Alabama.
Aaron joined Christian Light CPC in Lewiston, AL. He attended Eastman High School and graduated from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, AL where he earned a degree in mathematics. He also taught mathematics at Green County Training School in Eutaw, AL.
Aaron moved to Michigan where he met and married Callie Fogle and to this union, a son, Michael Aaron Spencer was born.
He worked for Chrysler Corporation as a purchasing executive until retirement.
Aaron was a senior member of the National Advisory Council for the National Association of American Veterans, Inc. (NAAV).
After Aaron’s wife passed, he lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Kim. Aaron’s son Michael died some years later. After Michael’s death Aaron wanted to be closer to his dad and siblings, so he moved to Decatur, AL.
Aaron is preceded in death by his mother, Dealva Cummings Patterson; his wife, Callie Fogle Spencer; son, Michael Aaron Spencer; adoptive parents, Elijah and Rosie Spencer.
Aaron leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Ross Malone, Jr of Decatur; sisters, Ethel M. Batts (Terry) of Cleveland, OH, Ann M. Ezell of Baltimore, MD, Rosselda M. Dixon (Michael) of Decatur, Carolyn Rasmussen (Roderick) of Steilacoom, WA; brother, Clinton G. Malone (Bonnie) of Decatur; grandson, M. J. Spencer of Burlington, IA; devoted cousins, Doris B. Morrow of Detroit, MI; Bobbye J. Bradley and Ann Malone of Decatur; a host of other family members and friends.
