Graveside Service for Ms. Angela Marie Bowie, 59 of Decatur, Alabama will be 1:30 pm Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Calvary Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Tracy Seltzer officiating. Public viewing will be Saturday from from 1:00 pm till 5:30 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Angela Marie Bowie was born in Cleveland, OH on April 12, 1962 to Sherry (Pruitt) Bowie and Warren Griffin. She departed this life on September 5, 2021 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.
Angie graduated from Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, TN in 1979 a year early. She was so smart she was able to skip the eleventh grade. She then attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga for a short period.
Angela accepted Christ at the early age of 10 at Orchard Knob MB Church in Chattanooga, TN. She later fellowshipped with Moulton Heights MB Church in Decatur, AL for the majority of her adult life. She truly loved the Lord and expressed that to everyone who had a conversation with her. To ‘truly’ know her, was to love her.
Angela was a great cook and had a great sense of humor. Her work history included: Parkway Medical Center, Wayne Farms, Boeing and Decatur City Schools where she retired in 2015 after twenty plus years of service. She later became a Foster Grandparent at Chestnut Grove Elementary until the recent pandemic.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Lular Warren, grandfather Merddi Wiggins, and grandparents Clifton and Premia Griffin, and brother Tim Griffin.
She leaves to cherish her memory: parents, Larry and Sherry Bowie of Chattanooga, TN, Warren Griffin (Gwen) of Hartselle, AL; five children, Shayla Johnson (Tommie), Sherie “Tenille” Bowie, Dustin Bowie, Deidre “Dominique” Bowie, and Courtney McFolley; three grandchildren, Jersey Johnson, Clark Johnson, and Keign McFolley; siblings, Adrian Bowie (Nicole) of Geismar, LA, Merisa Holmes (Clarence) of Decatur, Melinda Barbee of Decatur, and Rodney Griffin of Hartselle, AL.; stepbrother Antwan Cartwright and stepsister Jessica Williams all of Hartselle, AL; specially noted friend, Kinneth Priest, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
