Homegoing Services for Mrs. Annetta Smith Brackins 72 of Moulton, Alabama will be noon, Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Freeman Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Timothy Perryman officiating. Inhumation will follow in Moulton Memory Gardens. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service.
Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at Reynolds Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 6:00PM Friday in Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel.
The life of “Annetta Varlon” began on December 4, 1951, born to parents Prince and Sarah McKelvy Smith in Detroit Michigan. She transitioned from this life on September 28, 2024 at Huntsville, Hospital.
Varlon as she was more commonly known, was a 1970 graduate of Moulton High School. Historically the last class prior to integration. She was a veteran of the United States Army.
Varlon professed her faith in Christ early in life. She was formerly a member of Smith Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and later united with Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church.
While her health permitted Varlon ‘s line of employment included different walks of life. She enjoyed simple pleasures, she had a green thumb for growing beautiful plants, watching westerns, reading, game shows and traveling. She was a strong-willed person. This quality would rise to be one of her greatest assets when her health began to fail. She pressed on daily through all the challenges and kept her faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, children; Terraina Nichole “Nikki” Jones, Jimmy Ray Echols, Michael “Bruh” Lampkin; Siblings, Gregory Bernard Smith, Ursula Smith; Sisters-in-law, Joycene Taylor, Geraldine Howell, Clemeteen Mason; Brothers-in-law, Phillip Brackins, James Brackins, Lacon Pointer, and Collis Pointer.
