Annie Sue Yarbrough Crittendon was born on August 23, 1941 in Lawrence County, AL to the late Augusta Yarbrough and Mary L. Jones Yarbrough. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on April 29, 2024 at Decatur Morgan Hospital, surrounded by her loving friends and family.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Wheeler Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. One Sunday while worshipping at Macedonia Church, Ms. Sue was sitting in the middle of the church and began talking to Robert, the love of her life. He then started motioning to the Pastor to come to him and that was the Sunday that Ms. Sue became a member of Macedonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America. Due to her illness, she was unable to attend like she wanted to. Her favorite song was “I’M JUST A NOBODY TRYING TO TELL EVERYBODY ABOUT SOMEBODY, WHO CAN SAVE ANYBODY.”
She was a devoted, loving mother, friend and anyone that knew her was blessed to be in her presence. She will be truly missed by her children, grandchildren and her entire family. She would send food daily to residents in the senior citizens homes. If you seen her out, she would always greet you with a smile.
Sue, Robert, sons and grandsons enjoyed fishing together. She was a remarkable and awesome cook often referred to as Chef Sue. The family would gather for fellowships and enjoy the Grill Master, Robert and Sue making magic come off the grill. She would also tell Robert to stop telling fish stories because every time he told them the fish became bigger when he told them. Her door was opened to anyone who needed a place to stay. She remembered Christ saying “When I was outdoors, you took me in.” Pastor Lynne and she were close friends as well as Elders Kerry and Elder Brenda, who prayed with her in her home with Albert, Tangelia and Tyrone.
She was preceded in death by: a loving companion, Robert Williams; two sons, Micheal E. Crittendon and Gregory B. Crittendon; one daughter-in-law, Angelia Crittendon; four siblings, Gilvester Williams, Willie Yarbrough, Linda Yarbrough and Percel Yarbrough.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her children, Angela Crittendon (Joe Sutherland), Albert Crittendon, Steve Crittendon, Traycene Madden, Tyrone Crittendon, Cedrick Crittendon (Chanika); and a host of grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
