A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Bertha Moore,83, of Decatur, Alabama will be noon Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Wheeler Chapel Church with Bishop Thomas Davis officiating. There will be no public viewing.
Mrs. Bertha Ella Bowling Moore was born on August 31, 1942, in Lawrence County, Alabama, to the late Fred Bowling and Clara Wallace Bowling. On June 13, 2026, at Decatur General Hospital, she peacefully transitioned from labor to reward, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family.
At an early age, Bertha accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and faithfully served Him throughout her life. She was a dedicated member of Wheeler Chapel Church, where she worshipped and remained active until her health declined.
Bertha was a loving and family-oriented woman whose greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She possessed a kind spirit, a caring heart, and a beautiful smile that brightened every room she entered.
She enjoyed fellowshipping with loved ones and creating lasting memories with those she held dear.
She was employed with 3M Corporation for 13 years and later worked for General Motors, where she faithfully served until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Bowling and Clara Wallace Bowling; her husband John Thomas Moore Sr.; son Guy Moore; four brothers, Levolia, June, Frank and Willie Bowling; four sisters, Lillian Mae Birgans, Bessie Lee Jones, Stella Bowling and Shirley Mae King.
She leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory are: her children: John Moore (Rosie) ,Brenda Fryer both of Decatur, Alabama, Freddie Moore of Hillsboro, Alabama, Fawn Moore of Town Creek, Alabama, Patrick Taylor of Hillsboro, Alabama and Tanya Tucker, Decatur, Alabama: adopted daughters: Sycoilya Moore and Amesha Byrd both of Decatur, Alabama; 20 grandchildren; loving siblings, John Bowling, Janice Bowling both of Courtland, Alabama, Connie Bowling-Angie of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Corrine Hurley and Gloria Wiggins all of Courtland, Alabama; sister in-law, Lizzie Moore Bates of Hillsboro, Alabama. and a host of great-grandchildren, special niece, Venetia Watkins, other nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, Ernestine Elliott, Bobby Jo Bradley and Emma Kay Mitchell along with other relatives and friends.
