A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Bertha Carlean Young, 87 of Decatur, Alabama will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Reverend Lavonne Williams officiating. Inhumation will follow in Moulton Memory Gardens. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Bertha Carlean Alexander Young was born to the Late Booker T and Lucy M Taylor Alexander on November 17th, 1935, in Moulton Alabama. She departed this life on November 14, 2023, at her residence in Decatur, Alabama.
She attended and graduated from the Old Moulton High School and was an immaculate homemaker. On March 17th, 1957, she married Earnest T Young and to this union four children were born; Clarissa, Stacy, Fernita and Tamara.
She accepted Christ under the leadership of the late Reverend Willie Walter in Oakville Alabama. She was a member of Pentecostal House of Prayer in Huntsville Alabama and later joined Miracle Light House of Prayer in Moulton, where she served as a faithful missionary. She loved listening to gospel music, shopping, cooking, reading her Bible, spending time with her family and friends, and talking about the goodness of the Lord.
Preceding her in death were: her parents, Booker T and Lucy Alexander; husband, Earnest T. Young; son, Stacey O Young; siblings, Ester L Lee, Thelma Irene Young and Richard T Alexander and great grandson Jerry Cole Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Clarissa (Andrew) Butler of Decatur Alabama, Fernita (Dale) Robinson of Newport, Arkansas, Tamara (Sidney) Matthews of Pinson, Alabama; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Young of Franklin, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Stephen Young, Erica (Vandale) Gentry, Chace, Cambria, Alex and Callin Matthews, Donna Cole and Irrelon Robinson Jr; six great grandchildren, Leondra, Aaliyah, Kasie Robinson and Jerretha Cole, Caden and Camden Gentry; four sisters-in-law, Annie Fay Gossett, Samella Young both of Aliquippa PA and Elizabeth Louise Jones, Moulton, Alabama, and Rosa Alexander of Moulton Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
