A Celebration of Life for Mother Bessie Mae Garth Bailey, 84 of Decatur will be noon Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Moulton Heights Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Tracy Seltzer officiating. Inhumation will follow in Calvary Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and the family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bessie Mae Garth Bailey was the only child born on December 3, 1939 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Fred and Charity Coleman Garth. She departed this life on August 11, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Moulton Heights Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board.
She was retired from Wayne Farms LLC as an Attendant.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Reverend James Bailey. Also preceding her in death were her parents, children; Bessie Denice Bailey and Stuart Bailey.
She leaves to cherish her love and memory: her children, Charity Bailey (Willie) Shoulders and Annie Bailey (David); three grandchildren, Cherrelle Bailey (Derrick), Tyler (Chelsey) Bailey and Robert Williams, Jr; three great-grandchildren, Dailon Clay, Bentley and Theo Bailey; a special friend, Sharon “Nannie” Miller and a host of other relatives and friends.
Granny loved her entire family dearly and was always there for them. Her presence will forever be missed. For one may plant, another may water, but God giveth the increase. Mother Bailey did much planting and watering and the increase will be evident for many years and generations to come.
