Beverly Renee (Turney) Wherry

Graveside Services for Mrs. Beverly Renee Turney Wherry, 54 of Decatur, Alabama will be 11:00AM Saturday at Calvary Memorial Gardens with Rev. Billy Young officiating. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00PM until 5:30PM at Reynolds Funeral Home.  

Beverly Renee Turney Wherry was born in Decatur, Alabama on September 4, 1968 to the late MacArthur Sr. and Betty Jean Mack Turney. She departed this life on September 10, 2022 at the Decatur General Campus of Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Beverly was educated in the Decatur City Schools and was a 1987 graduate of Austin High School. She was employed for several year at Decatur General Hospital. She later was employed at Steelcase as an assembly worker until she became disabled.

She confessed a Hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of Redeeming Love Outreach Ministries.  She later attended church with her husband, the Reverend Brett D. Wherry, pastor of Ebenezer Christian Church in Danville, Alabama. Although she had no children, she was a mother to her numerous nieces and nephews. Beverly had a sweet spirit and showed love and compassion to everyone that she met.  She will be missed by all that had the blessed privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; MacArthur Turney, Sr. and Betty Jean Mack Turney; and her brother, MacArthur Turney, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, the Reverend Brett Dangelo Wherry; stepson, Torrey Pride both of Decatur; siblings,  Joe Turney (JoAnn), Jennifer Turney, Vickie Peterson; nieces and nephews, Neisha Turney, Krystal Turney (Somsak Frye), Tyesha Turney (Lastanley Malone), Toni Overton (Chase), Nikko Peterson,  Dwight Jones, Brittany Turney; great nieces and nephews, Julien Peterson, Carter Peterson, Emery Peterson, Liam Overton, Layton Overton, Zoey Jones, Ty’Quavious Davis, Zulri Frye and Elijah Frye; two aunts, Gerldine Singleton and Sheila Mack; uncles, Larry L. Mack and Joseph Mack; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
