A Celebration of Life for Mr. Billy Gene Langford, 58 of Belle Mina, AL will be noon Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Fletcher's Chapel P.B. Church in Madison with Dr. Eric Peeples officiating and Elder Kenneth Lankford host pastor. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral. Inhumation will follow repast in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-7 at the funeral home. Mr. Langford passed away on February 19, 2020 at the Decatur General Campus of Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Billie Gene Langford was born to Ms. Mary Langford Williams on December 14, 1961, in Limestone County, Alabama. He departed this life on February 19, 2020, at Decatur General Hospital in Decatur, Alabama.
Billie Gene, as he was affectionately called by his family and close friends loved his family dearly! He made sure that he kept in contact with all his relatives no matter near or far. Billie Gene was a very special person! He was always nurturing and inspiring his children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives.
Billie Gene grew up in Greenbriar, AL. He attended school in the Limestone County School System. He loved sports. He played baseball while in attendance at Mooresville Bell Mina Jr. High and Tanner High School. He lived most of his adult life in Decatur, AL Billie Gene was very talented. He was gifted with being very personable. He had the ability to make strangers and his fellow man feel “uplifted!” He loved to talk; loved people, and he never met a stranger. He was very generous and would give the shirt off his back if someone was in need. He was intelligent, and an entrepreneur. He was skilled in many trades and a master yards-man.
Billy Gene confessed his belief in Jesus Christ and made eternal preparations at an early age for an everlasting home. He remained a faithful member of Epic Church in Decatur, AL. He attended his church home on a regular basis, until he was not physically able to do so.
He was preceded in death by: his brother, Calvin Kent Langford and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Langford Sr.
Billie Gene is survived by two children; daughter Kendra (Abdul) Langford and son Billy Lashawn (Serena) Jones; and stepson, Marcus (Shea) Jones, all of Decatur, AL. Ten grandchildren; Kaleed Langford, Andrea Jones, Konstance Garth, Ali and Khalid Nasseri, Jordyn, Miasia, Sky, Diamond, and D’markus Jones, and one great granddaughter, Kailani Jones. Loving memories of “Billie Gene” will always be cherished by his mother, Mary E. Langford Williams, of Bell, Mina, AL; one sister, Susan Langford McCrary, of Belle Mina, AL; two brothers; David (Diana) Langford of Decatur, AL; Rickie Langford of Tanner, AL; three aunts, Ms. Irene Langford of Huntsville, AL; Ms. Mattie Vance of Athens, AL; and Ms. Bernestine Langford of Chattanooga, TN; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
