A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Brenda Joycene Brackins Taylor, 80 of Moulton, Alabama will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Oakville Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Robert Yarbrough, Jr. officiating. Inhumation will follow in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral at the church. Public viewing will be Monday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.
Brenda Joycene Brackins Taylor of Moulton, AL was born in Lawrence County, Alabama on January 23, 1943 to the late George Brackins, Sr. and Cora Mae Taylor Brackins. On Friday night, April 14th in Huntsville, Alabama, the Master called and she answered.
Joyce accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 12, under the leadership of Pastor Willie Walter, and became a faithful member of Oakville M. B. Church until her death.
She attended Moulton High School. Brenda received her a dietician certification from Gadsden Dietary School. She was employed as a dietician at Lawrence County Medical Center where she retired with over 40 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, shopping, cooking, home decorating, yard sales, doing good deeds for others, and working in the church in the church. At any church functions, you could always find Brenda at the head of the group, leading, helping in every way, cooking, cleaning, and fundraising. At Christmas or birthdays, she made sure everyone had a gift. She was always dependable. She held positions as kitchen committee president, Sunday school secretary, and served on the finance committee.
She was married to the late Hayward Taylor. Preceding her also in death were her parents; two sons, Stanley “Bam” and Ronald “Woobug” Taylor; a daughter, Brenda Taylor; two sisters, Geraldine Brackins Howell and Clemeteen Brackins Mason; brothers, James and Phillip Brackins, and Lacon Pointer.
Brenda leaves to cherish her precious memory: a dear and devoted friend, Melvin Lee; two sons, Kenneth A. Brackins and Brian Taylor of Moulton, AL; a daughter, Rita Ann Taylor of Moulton, AL; brothers, Alvin and George (Annetta) Brackins of Moulton, AL, Robert and R.D. Pointer of Moulton, AL; two sisters, Mildred Lee and Hayzett Echols (Lucion) of Moulton, AL; two granddaughters, Cahgan Jefferson (Michael) of Decatur, AL and Mashanda Thomas (Jacoby) of Atlanta, GA; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Dunn Taylor of Moulton, AL and a host of other relatives and friends.
